Monetizing Your Blog

One of the most talked about aspects of blogging among bloggers is monetizing a blog in such a way that it generates an income for the owner while not detracting from the asthetic and informing nature of the website itself.

So what's this all about and how would it affect you if you are writing yoru own blog and are looking to advance it's purpose into more than just a scratchpad for your thoughts and ideas. I mean turning it into a money generating machine!

One way of monetizing your blog is via the adsense revenue sharing tab. There you can add your adsense pub id for your individual blog and as long as you have optimized it for its main and relevant long tail keywords, you will get adsense ads displayed on the front page of your blog.

Another way that is popular is to place affiliate ads on your blog in pages that review or discuss physical products (such as those sold by Amazon or eBay) or digital products (such as those sold on Clickbank).

Of course, that is not the end of the story, as you then need to attract traffic to your blog in order that those ads will be clicked on by targeted visitors. This is more complex than it at first appears as you need to create sufficient authority in your blog so that it will feature on the first page of the major search engines. To do that you will need to attract other bloggers and website owners to link to your blog.

This is easier said than done, but you can achieve it by writing informative articles that other site owners in the relative niches will link to if they think it will enhance their own sites as an external resource.
